New Matches Coming In

No new matches since end of August. I know for a fact that those who are transferring their results from 23andMe, have to wait until the problem of build 36 vs build 37 is resolved. I can't wait as my sister-in-law's (on here) cousin is one of those transfers waiting for results. They told her the wait should be 8-10 weeks. At 23andMe we have not gotten our build 37new match results even yet, so it must be very time consuming.

Yes, it is time consuming, because the number of pair-wise comparisons is humongous. However, 23andMe decided to add new matches in the build 36 format in the meantime.

I received matches on 8/31. Prior to that, I received matches on 8/10. If that interval is now FTDNA's schedule, then new matches should show up tomorrow. (Then again, extrapolating from two data points is always dangerous. )

Hopefully both companies will do better if/when this happens the next time. The autosomal DNA world seems to be primarily a waiting game these days. It's frustrating when you're trying to solve mysteries.

I said this towards the end of last month.... FTDNA should take out the guesswork by picking a schedule. Every 3 weeks, 1st working day of the month, whatever; better to know a date and stick with it. That does mean that new testers who complete on Release Day + 1 won't see their matches until the next Release Day, but that's pretty much what's happening now, right?

New FF Matches

Hi. I just checked again after checking an hour or so ago. This time I found 5 new matches, but nothing closer than 3rd to 5th cousin.

It took a while, but I must confess....a good haul. 8 new for my uncle (including 1 suggested 3rd cousin and 2 suggested 4th cousins). 3 new or my kit (including 1 suggested 3rd cousin and 1 suggested 4th cousin).

About 25 on all my (Ashkenazi) kits. As noted by others, this is a relatively low number given the full month that's passed.... Still, a suggested 2nd cousin to my father, that's unusual. Suggested 4th for me, and also shows as a suggested 4th for a cousin on my maternal side, so we'll see....

One new match for me, one for my ex-husband, three for my sister, four for my daughter-in-law and my sister-in-law ,and five for my brother.

2 remote cousins for me, 2 for my uncle, 1 for my first cousin, and 2 PAGES for my 5th cousin, including someone who has our surname!

I just noticed that I have four new matches. But I don't recognize the names. Now I have a total of 155 autosomal matches.

30 new, very overpredicted matches including one supposed 2nd cousin. That gets me to over 1500 in total. The way things have been going, 30 is quite low for over a month, so maybe submissions are indeed down as someone suggested and sjadelson just mentioned again.

I got 5 matches with one predicted 3rd cousin, My son got 6 matches with two predicted 4th cousins. My nephew got 4 matches with two predicted 3rd cousins. One of my distant ones was a Mr. Name Withheld, yet he does supply a surname list...
