Affy to Illumina conversions complete?

I started the conversion with 43 Affy matches, 14 of which have been converted to date, leaving 29 to go. I have picked up an additional 19 non-Affy matches.

With less than half my original matches converted, it would seem many conversions are still in process, even if a few are lost.

Does anyone know the date for the next batch of results?

I am still missing 27 of my 33 Affy matches.

My question remains, if a whole lot of original Affy matches do not show up in Illumina, what does that mean? Are they still a real relative match to me at the level that was predicted, or not ???????????????????????
Some of them I have been working with for a year! One is the only 100% Italian match that I have, and I am adopted but know that I have an Italian birth father, so this match is very important to me. However, she has not shown up yet in Illumina.

Hopefully when I do my normal match results check after midnight tonight, I will see a whole bunch of my missing Affy's.....because I am getting very concerned.

It doesn't matter, for two reasons:

1) Not all of any batch's kits arrive by the date, sometimes few or none, and sometimes they're all in early;
2) We don't know how many batches are required, certainly more than one more batch.

I just looked at my family finder matches and I have 1 from my Affy matches I just got a second ago and 1 new who is a relative.

Affy to Illumina

Picked up one new match an hour ago, still have 29 outstanding Affys. My great-uncle (Ilummina only) picked up 5 new matches.

I had an email to say I had new matches today, but when I view "All Matches" I have the same as I did last week, 21.

I have only 8 out of my 58 Affy matches on the new Illumina. I am still missing my close matches let alone my distant cousins.
If that is 85% complete, I'm going to be one pissed of customer to loose so many matches, apart from the months of no new matches and waiting on matches to be converted.

Just use the chromosome browser to get a quick match count in both sections.

Matt, nobody seems to want to answer the question I asked in post # 31 regarding what to do (what is the relationship status) about lost Affy matches who don't show up in Illumina????

Ah, yes, I'm forgetting that we had to "sign up" for the free conversion, so right now it seems that around 50% of my Affy matches may not have bothered to take that step.

They Affy matches simply matched in Affy. The Illumina test does not mean your Affy information was wrong. The two tests are slightly different. There can be a few reasons one test finds a match but the other doesn't to the same person. Usually this is in the distant match category, the speculative matches. Speculative matches can be very distant by the way, hence the lack of a prediction in their row, just a range.

I have a maternal match to myself and my mother who dropped off my mother's Illumina matches, not mine. We have a papertrail connecting him to her, hence to me too. Its a 9 generation link, a long one in other words. Just because he's not on my mother's match list for Illumina doesn't mean he is no longer connected. It just means Illumina didn't find the connection. Funny thing is I still have him on my Illumina. These tests can do weird things to the very distant matches they find.

I'd say go on as if your Affy matches are matches. They may be from a very long time ago but I'd keep them. Keep the information somewhere too because they will remove Affy later this year, not right now but later this year.

*** Update: I've just been told in another place that FTDNA intends to automatically convert all existing Affy clients, it's just that they gave preference to those who "signed on" early.

Where they are up to in that overall process is a guess. They may be 85% through those who "signed on", but it seems to me that they are only about 50% though the entire conversion task.
