I have a 2nd cousin match in 23andMe that has never responded. I've learned to ignore the ones that won't reply. Sure I'd love to know who the 2nd cousin is yet there's not a thing I can do about it so I move on and go with the matches who will reply.

Plus, I've emailed my new Illumina 3rd cousin several times and so far no reply and they have no names listed. It's been close to a month. If the response rate here is going to get this bad then, when taken with the database size difference and the fact that such a high percent of the database here is Jewish, I begin to wonder if just liking the company more is good enough reason to keep sending folks here.
Kasandra, I have about 11 out of 58 old Affy matches.
Im still missing my 3rd coucins etc...

Nearly all my new Illumina matches are not posting family surnames or Gedcoms.

I have come to the conclusions this is just how it is with matches.

I'm still waiting for new conversions from Affy.

They will probably not post surname or gedcoms either....

I think I have just about got used to this useless database and test.....

I can only blame FTDNA for the long wait for conversions, and the other participants lack of participation.

I had 3 new matches 4/15 (1 Affy and 2 new Illumina), and only 1 so far this week (Affy), but I am hoping more will come tomorrow night. Only 8 of my 33 Affy's have shown up so far, so 25 of them are still missing in Illumina.

I am amazed that you have no exact matches at 1 markers. I am also R1ba2 and I have 1322 exact 12 marker matches. But at 37 markers I have only 2 at GD=4.

I have 24 conversions for my 65 Affy matches. I have 33 Illumina only matches. I have not received any matches this week, either.

So far I have only 11 out of my 58 Affy matches in Illumina.

With the FF conversions, sales, new 111 markers and now DNA Heritage joining the database, FTDNA are going to be very busy.
I can see how SLOW things are just now in getting the new 111 marker results uploaded to project webapges..

    Barbara:

FTDNA has already began converting the people who never signed up for a FF Illumina conversion. They aren't done but they already started.

    k. o. gran, Sorry I have no business posting. Someday my DNA will be Illumina, but they are not done with the ones that signed up early on for the conversion. And Now A sale...Did they hire more people?
Dr Macdonald is now only doing Illumina.. I need to stop reading the forum

Maybe I misunderstood your post, but conversion to Illumina is free and happens to all Affymetrix customers even if they did not sign up for the early conversion.

I had 70 Affy matches. Only 20 have converted, so 50 to go. I have 20 new Illumina matches to add to the 20 from Affy for 40 total. 21 have not listed surnames or put up a gedcom...come on people! Get those names on! My son had 40 Affy matches. 16 have converted, 23 have yet to show on Illumina, one Affy appears to have been lost (but he showed up on my Illumina; he was not on my Affy...???). My son has a total of 34 on Illumina, so 18 are brand new. 14 have no surnames or gedcom on my son's. Put the surnames on, it defeats the purpose not to. If it's a gedcom, list everyone, NOT just the direct male & female lines...geeezzzz

Speculative matches can be very distant by the way, hence the lack of a prediction in their row, just a range.

I have a maternal match to myself and my mother who dropped off my mother's Illumina matches, not mine. We have a papertrail connecting him to her, hence to me too. Its a 9 generation link, a long one in other words. Just because he's not on my mother's match list for Illumina doesn't mean he is no longer connected. It just means Illumina didn't find the connection. Funny thing is I still have him on my Illumina. These tests can do weird things to the very distant matches they find.

I'd say go on as if your Affy matches are matches. They may be from a very long time ago but I'd keep them. Keep the information somewhere too because they will remove Affy later this year, not right now but later this year.

Matt, thanks for responding. I feel better now!

I do wish my Affy full straight 4th cousin match (AKA here as CorkyBean) had not been reduced to a 5th-distant cousin match on Illumina. Hard to know which result is the closest to the real situation.

*** Update: I've just been told in another place that FTDNA intends to automatically convert all existing Affy clients, it's just that they gave preference to those who "signed on" early.

Where they are up to in that overall process is a guess. They may be 85% through those who "signed on", but it seems to me that they are only about 50% though the entire conversion task.

My question remains, if a whole lot of original Affy matches do not show up in Illumina, what does that mean? Are they still a real relative match to me at the level that was predicted, or not ???????????????????????
Some of them I have been working with for a year! One is the only 100% Italian match that I have, and I am adopted but know that I have an Italian birth father, so this match is very important to me. However, she has not shown up yet in Illumina.

Hopefully when I do my normal match results check after midnight tonight, I will see a whole bunch of my missing Affy's.....because I am getting very concerned.
