I sent him 3 tests a few weeks ago to analyze. Does he analyze all the tests that are sent them to him? How long does it take? I truly appreciate his time and effort so I don't want to write to him and ask these questions just want to know if I have done everything correctly. Plus I have some new results to send along.
    Thanks

It depends if he has a backlog (and probably on his day job, he's a chemistry professor doing this in his spare time.). He sometimes posts over at dna-forums, and at one point he was bogged down for a while with lots of requests.

He responded to mine in about a day, but I sent them as soon as the raw data download was available, probably before the deluge of later conversions.

Yeah, it depends. I asked him first if he could look at my data and he said send it over. The next day I had his analysis (and this was a couple weeks ago). I don't know what his schedule looks like now.

Is he accepting FF results now? I remember emailing him a year or so ago and he was only doing 23andMe.

Yep he can do them now since they are on the Illumina chip that 23andme uses. He did mine just fine and it matched his analysis of my 23andme data. So if you got your Illumina results send him an email to ask for an analysis.

Are McDonald & Kull doing similar things?

            Any point in doing both?

Last time I heard from him, (a few days ago) he mentioned being pretty busy. So it could just be that he hasn't had a chance to get to yours yet.

Here's a quote from a recent email from Dr. McDonald:

Also ... the results from 23andme v2 and v3, and FTDNA Illumina are
truly identical, as the number of no-calls has gotten very very low.

                  worth waiting for!

I must have caught him at a good time. It was a few weeks ago. I had a response within a couple of hours.

He even bore with me as I struggled to download the raw date properly. Had to change the settings on my MAC so it wouldn't unzip the file before sending! So nice and helpful.

He was fairly brief and to the point when it came to the results, and I didn't get a percentage breakdown for the various European components, as some people do. What I did get was even better: he identified this tantalizing bit of Native American (below the PF threshold for FTDNA to report, I guess) with an explanation that it could also reflect Finnish/Sammi. So that opened up a whole new avenue for me.

Hope you get results soon. But it's worth the wait, if that is what it takes.

Same with me. That 0.8% NA in my signature is from his analysis (PF missed it because it was too small).

                      My tests

I have been inundated with test requests. I'm still doing them, however.

                      I was almost caught up.

And this morning I lost about 20 to a mail crash.

I would prefer if people did not send me things that really look
correct to them. I'm more able to help with the strange results,
or people who suspect more than four population groups, or
are missing suspected Native American. Etc.

Im having trouble with this. Its my women not my men. I need MT-DNA on my women. Many of my men were given mother's surname instead of father's and Y-DNA not matching to any surnames connected to the family or matching no surname. My Pima/Maya is the only thing that shows up which is my Tex/Mex line- My SE USA showed up on Affy as being mixed but not Illumina

How do I contact Dr. McDonald?

I recently got my Population Finder results, and they indicated 100% Orcadian (W. Europe). My g-grandmother was of American Indian heritage, and am disappointed that PF did not detect this in my DNA. How do I reach Dr. McDonald to ask him for an analysis of my data?

                          thanks, Don White

Thanks, Dr. McDonald, for all you do! I really appreciate your help (see my post earlier in this thread.) You were the first to identify the "something else" going on besides the 100% European FTDNA reported (which they've revised a bit; see below.)

But you really opened a door for me, and for many others. So we do need to be patient :-)

Thanks for the info, Dr. My kit # is 62671 and just emailed you my results in the last couple of days. My Affy results were more in line with what I expected, the Illumina results seem to be completely off in the % I received. I do expect four different continental populations in my results, since my family tradition says we have at least that much admixture in the last 6 generations. The population groups I expect would be Native American, European, Middle East/North African, and South Asian (India).
