@Kasandra: Received results for 2 tests purchased in December several weeks ago. Testing only performed on Illumina, not on Affy then retest.
-
^PF is still working for those tested on Affymetrix, but for nobody on Illumina.

P. F. is not working for anybody yet until they finish converting all the old files.

Where's our data?
"I didn't mean the conversions, I meant the folks that bought the sale or whatever from last year w their testing on hold. I assume they'd run all those before running existing customers who had some results even if they were Affy."- K
Exactly - I know that I've been waiting for original PF results since November - are we, last year's batches, being overlooked? My paper trail dried up a long time ago, that's why I bought the FF with PF tests back then!

I was converted 2 days ago and chugging along with 153 matches so far. I have 254 under Affy.
While I've corresponded with many people about our common Ashkenazi heritage, most people do not have the extensive paper trail (or even oral history) to be able to make the connections. Sometimes all we know is our common ancestors probably came from Belarus. On my maternal grandfather's side, I have nothing further than the names of his parents. Maternal grandmother's side is not much better. Paternal side is entirely speculative - I have a HUGE documented online family tree that I may or may not be connected to.
So I was quite pleased when someone I match on HIR (but not FF) wrote and said that her uncle's Illumina results showed me as a 4th-Distant cousin and a known cousin's results should be showing up shortly. We've been comparing notes as her uncle has a half-dozen 2nd cousin matches, some of whom are matches (3rd to distant) of mine. I was able to tell her who belonged to whom (parent/child and other known relatives I'm aware of) so she's got a better idea of what the completed puzzle might look like. We're not there yet but having several 2nd cousin matches sounds like progress can be made!

One of my cousins got him with Illumina and she had him with Affy.
One of my matches for FF is also my uncles MTDNA Match but my Uncle did not get him as a match with FF.

In the end I will find out all.

That Affy error rate always bugged me. It was the main reason I did the 23 thing. I'm thrilled that FTDNA went to Illumina, now the best company is matched with the best chip.I give FTDNA a lot of credit. I just think they could have communicated a bit more. I like that fourth cousins are now shown at log in. It was too confusing for new folks to log in and see no cousins at all.
If all the on hold kit relatives have already shown up and they are now mostly on new orders and conversions I will continue my trend of having fewer matches here than most folks. All my kin must have done 23 for health.. at least judging by my second cousin and four third cousins who are sitting there anonymous. It was so nice last night when I got my results I emailed my new fourth cousin the first ten minutes and got a reply a half hour later. Much less painful.

My first Illumina results arrived last night, and I have gone from having no 3rd cousins to having 3 new 3rd cousins. Not a one of them has a gedcom or surname list, however. I hope I will hear from them. Also one of my affymetric
speculative matches is now a close match. There are 20 cousins on my new illumina results. I had a total of 46 matches on the affymetric chip.

It almost came out but didn't. I've noticed even my old Affy raw data is coming out wrong now like my mom's did months ago where most of it is not text comma delimited, just comma delimited until almost the very last part which includes the "" used by the computers to mean text format comma delimited.
At the moment there are bugs to fix and they say Pop Finder is a priority for the IT (Information technology) staff. I think I'd go with letting them work on PF but that's just me. Of course I would like the raw data too but they have to determine which item takes priority and I know PF has a high priority.Last edited by mkdexter; 11 March 2011, 12:05 AM.

She has 2 kits that were Affy but did not show up before... Although I had some indications they were maternal matches to me.. one I mentioned already and one just found looking at all her matches.
So she has 31 new Illumina matches, 2 Affy matches that she didn't have before but I did, and 6 more converted Affy that she had before.
So yes there are a lot of new kits coming in and not that many converted yet. It's going to take that full eight weeks I think for the conversions.
They did order more parts to increase production by the way so soon they will be processing even more than they are now. Have to give them some credit as that's a lot of kits to be processing non-stop at a no cost to us.
Considering there are at least two matches that Affy missed for my mother's kit I'm feeling confident that Illumina is coming out more accurate and with many less errors.
