Illumina Chip Population Finder Results

Can anyone tell me when we will get our Population Finder results from the Illumina Chip?

No answer yet. It is on hold longer than they anticipated. FTDNA is making adjustments and some are proving challenging. I thought I read somewhere they were going to use the same SNPs as used in the Affy chip but contrary to that they are going to try and use more SNPs after all.. thus the wait.

A week ago I asked the FTDNA helpdesk and they said it'll take a week or so so we're in the or so period of the wait.

Given this new explanation, I take back my eariler snarkiness. I really don't mind waiting for more accurate results. They should have posted this from the get go though.

I remember eagerly awaiting the first PF.. only to go.. uh huh? after I got them. Now, I wait amiably for the new rendition and have much lower expectations. I'm loving Davidski's new Eurogenes analysis. This last run I felt finally gave me some definition. North Germany/Scandinavia, France, UK/Ireland and some Baltic... oh those sneaky Non-Finnish, non-Scandinavian Baltic folks... He even found a tiny bit of Middle Eastern which Dr. McD had seen but said it was too small to worry about. I feel good about this analysis and that I finally fit in where everyone thinks I did.

Is Davidski's Eurogenes analysis the one that is limited to those who have 4 gps from the same country? or is it open to all?

It's open to everyone.

Davidski's Eurogenes analysis

What's Davidski's Eurogenes analysis? I googled it and was taken to a blog where they breakdown general populations. Is this something that individuals can do? Can someone point me to a link?

Anyone if they're adding new reference populations? Or is it that they're refining how they assign to a given population. Am I correct in assuming most people wont see a radical change in their results?

dawer, I would like to know this too. The new message says "over 60 populations" -- so how many populations did they use in the previous version of PF?

There are 62 populations Affy and Illumina. They plan on adding more in the future but that doesn't mean they will see them at this time. It's been requested that whenever new groups are added that the list shows the new ones with a "new" flag or something.

Recalculate. Remember its a 3 tiered system. The only changes are in the population group readings and most people don't match those now. Unless a person happens to match the new group closer then the sub-continental or continental, they won't see a change except possibly in admixture %. In other words only the really close people to the new groups will see a difference.

FF missed my NA input. So I'm wondering if they will catch it with Illumina. Two other independent testing services caught it at the exact same %-age. Since my mtdna is NA I don't need the verification but it is interesting to see it.
