Opting Out of Chromosome Browser

Had not realized MyHeritage has a choice, in Settings -- My Privacy -- DNA Preferencex
"Allow DNA Matches to view shared DNA segments and download shared DNA segment info" -
And if they uncheck it, then matches cannot see them in the Chromosome Browsed

Have they always had that? Or when did it start?

Does FTDNA also have something like that?

Based on that, it seems the answer to my question is "no"
At FTDNA, folks can delete their DNA; they can leave the DNA and limit who they share with by category of closeness; but folks cannot turn off the chromosome info to those one shows as matching. Yay! A reason to prefer FTDNA.

I absolutely agree. Nowadays I have too many matches at MyHeritage who hide their shared segments. My suspicion is a lot of these customers don't fully understand what they're hiding. They read the 'explanations' and probably think others will be able to download all their DNA or something. A lot of these folks probably have limited understanding of genetic genealogy anyway or just test for curiosity. DNA matches are not the same as Facebook friends. The company would do well to change this setting in the future, but I doubt they will.
