  • Mapping family names on to Chromosome Browser

    Has anyone else done this?

OK so it looks like I am the first

I have been able to identify two segments of DNA with two different families in my tree. On Chromosome 1 I have about ten matches who share a segment of DNA. Out of the ten matches three or four share a Common Ancestor from the same family but different generation. Three to four of the others share the name of interest and the last two to three matches have no known connection to the family name.

The second group of matches shares a segment of DNA that almost covers the whole of Chromosome 8. This group is almost two hundred strong with about eleven matches who share the name of interest and come from two branches of the same family.
