  • All my old matches restored. Gained 6 new matches. One match from today, two matches dated 3.14.2013, and three new ones dated 2.22.2013. The last time I received new matches was on 2.22.2013, and these three were not there. The cm is different, some of the matches that moved up the chart in the new build, moved back down to where they originally had been. I now have 94 matches! Better than 52. I am nervous though that this might not be final. The raw data is still not available for download.

    P.S.
Who is putting in all those sarcastic tags on the really hot threads? See tags for this thread, Upcoming Monday, Somerled the Celt. Just wondering, it seems like different people started each of these threads, why would there be all these curious tags. Some are kind of amusing, but I'm sure they are meant for full sarcastic effect. Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought you could only put tags in if you start the thread.

    P.S.S.
Oh I see there is an edit tag feature, I never noticed that before. Never mind!

    • My Family Finder results *still* read "This test is currently on order and matching will be possible when results come back," despite the emails from ftdna assuring me that the issues have been rectified...

      • STILL

Am I the only one who still cannot see matches?

Are you getting no matches at all or are you getting no matches at a particular level? For example, at [Close and Immediate], I have one match. He was my half-brother. At [Show All Matches], I have 82 matches.

          What is your match level?

I have zero matches at any level. At one point in time during the conversion, I was able to see matches for a day or so, then they all disappeared again. FTDNA received my kit in August of 2012, I saw matches for a day or so, and haven't seen any since. Currently my Family Finder matches page, at any level, says "This test is currently on order and matching will be possible when results come back."

Did you mail it back? If so when? If it's been a while just Call FTDNA on the phone and ask them to fix it or give back your money.

              • Yes, I mailed it back in. When I said my kit was received, I meant by FTDNA. They "completed" the test 2/23/13. Their latest (written) response is:

At this time there are several bugs affecting the Family Finder system. This is to be expected given the nature of the updates that were recently applied to the Family Finder database and our IT department is working diligently to clean them up.

                • I had no matches until sometime in early February of 2013, though I tested in March 2011. What's weird is that it said my match was from May of 2012. Now that they've completed their tweaking of build 37, I no longer show any matches at any level.

The match I had was 3-5 cousin. We shared a total of 22.48 cM and a longest block of 17.03 cM. I emailed FTDNA customer service and the response I got was that I have no valid matches and the build 37 data is now complete. However, GEDmatch shows us with a total of 26 cM and suggested 4.6 GD, so this is all a bit confusing. I have not uploaded build 37 data to GEDmatch, since I saw where their tool will just reconvert it back to build 36.

It's hard to trust this FTDNA data without any good explanation of the flip/flop with matches that I and others on this forum are seeing.

                  • They are absolutely having issues. My father, sister, and mother are all in the system, and showed up for me at one point.

                    • RCrumpton & dggslf - Have either of you tested at 23andMe or Ancestry, and if you did, do you have matches anywhere else? BTW- I have matches at Gedmatch that I don't match here, even though the kits at Gedmatch are FTDNA tested kits (I know there are 23ndMe & Ancestry kits too there at Gedmatch, which is down for maint right now)...

RCrumpton - You should contact them- I just re-read your last post... Something is obviously amiss with your family not matching as it did before.

                      • As far as everyone else (at least those on this forum) are concerned, matches are back & things are back to normal.

I suggest that you contact them directly through their "contact us" messaging system. Be brief. Provide the kit numbers without matches, or those who aren't showing obvious relatives as matches.

They might still have a problem, and they might not know about it until someone reports it. And by this, I mean, reports it after April 2. I'm sure they got hundreds, if not thousands, of messages before that making this complaint.

                        • I have kits at Ancestry, 23andme, and all the other places listed in my signature, all with matches.

T E Peterman: I'm glad your matches are back and everything is back to normal. Mine are certainly not. I have made the ftdna CSR's aware of the issue. I was brief. I stated the kit number. Their (Family Tree DNA's) response, dated April 11, 2013, was:

                          Hello,

Thank you for contacting Family Tree DNA. At this time there are several bugs affecting the Family Finder system. This is to be expected given the nature of the updates that were recently applied to the Family Finder database and our IT department is working diligently to clean them up. This issue is one of which they are aware and will be addressed as quickly as possible. As always, we appreciate your continued patience as we work to maintain our position on the cutting edge of genetic genealogy technology.

                          Have a nice day.

                          Regards,

                          • Can't help myself, gotta say tha this number of errors is certainly not "to be expected". At least not in any competent reasonably well run and funded IT department.

                            • RCrumpton: That message sort of clarifies something that a lot of us have been wondering. There are still problems. Family Tree DNA is aware of it & working on it. Chances are, they will find a fix within the next week or two. They might have to run the database again (in which case, cm values could shift for the rest of us again).

                              Thanks for asking them.

                              • I got extra matches, but have found that the default is now setup to show me no matches, so I change the drop down selection and run report, then my matches appear.
