  • Question about Haplogroup

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here! I'm making this post because I have a question about my paternal haplogroup. My dad did the Y-111 test from FamilyTreeDNA, and it said his haplogroup is R-M269. Then, I used NevGen to find his specific subclade, and it predicted that his haplogroup is R-DF17. Does this mean that I can say with 100% certainty that this is his haplogroup? He had a distant match at the Y-67 level who did the Big Y test, and his subclade (R-S14390) falls under R-DF17.

NO! The only way to be able to say he is R-DF17 is to test for that SNP. You could order just that SNP, a SNP Pack or Big Y.

That makes sense, thank you for letting me know. I'll just order the Big Y test at some point to find out.
