Different Methods of Counting STR Values!

It is a difference in the method of reading the results. See
    http://www.smgf.org/ychromosome/marker_standards.jspx

The last row shows you need to add 1 to the FTDNA results to get the Genebase v3.4 results.

And their note below the conversion table says, "Note: Differences in standards are due to different methods of counting STR values."

I'm betting it's a difference in nomenclature between the two companies:

    error in result?

I first tested 20 markers at genebase before deciding to move here instead.
When I compared my results from genebase and ftdna, they were identical, except:
Genebase said my GATA H4 was 11.
FTDNA said my Y-GATA-H4 was 10.

Is this some weird difference in simply representation?
Or have either FTDNA or Genebase made an error?
Working...
