I have an uncle who wants to test to what haplogroup he belongs too - this will give my mother and myself answers to our Eichelberger line. Question, which YDNA test would be best?

Are you looking to find other males with that surname?
I think at least a 37 marker test is minimal with 67 markers more certain.
Bare in mind, a marker test will only yield a major haplogroup. You have to pay more money to get to a subclade level .
For example my 37 marker test yielded a haplogroup of R1b1a2 - M269
This group covers just about all of western Europe .
I then took the deep clade test to get to R1b1a2a1a1b4 most frequently found in the Uk.
I hope this helps some

I just ordered my Uncle the 37 marker test - he's my mother's brother and with this test we'll know what Haplogroup our Eichelberger men belong too. My grandfather is deceased so Uncle Steve was our next best option.
I manage the Eichelberger surname project here on FTDNA so his results will give me a lot of information to work with.
