  • We routinely list the number of results we are waiting for on our surname project online meeting room, and just today I noticed that kit pages are no longer getting the blue "PENDING-check the status" phrase where there used to be an estimated date for a kit. Now we get a generic timeframe with no reference to the individual kit's order receipt. The site seems to be "dumbing down" in accountability to the users for estimating their waiting times, since there was already confusion about the time between Completion Date of a batch and the posting of results. The "Track DNA Test" graphic mentioned above does not fill the same purpose. Pretty graphics do not substitute for explanations or estimations. (Our latest request is batched 1200 using an existing sample.)

    • I received my results on Batch 1183 kit 276725. I had upgraded from Y500 to Y700. Initially I was told I would have to submit a new sample, which I did. When I got my results back my SNP was unchanged - FGC69357. Can someone explain to me why my SNP didn't change? Is it possible the Test hasn't actually been done?

It is possible that you didn't share any of the newly found SNPs with other persons. In this case only your number of private variants grew bigger.

        • Big Y kit in Batch 1197 complete today 7/10/21. Ordered May, they requested a new sample, it was submitted and finally it's done.

          • We have a kit in our project ordered 4/20/2021, batched as 1188 next day, still no terminal SNP. This is by my calculation 18 weeks ago. No indication from the kit manager/sampler that it failed any QC, so why is this taking so long?

            • I will add, the batch mentioned above, 1188, was "lapped" by later batches, whose results took the predicted 7 weeks and are already posted. The one we await was specifically requested for comparison to the later one that has posted.
1188 is marked Completed in Order History, but no date and no results. What gives? Has anyone else seen a Completed Batch with no results?

If there is no date next to "Completed" then that means there are no results returned yet for that particular test.

                • I have one kit in the recent batch 1225, order placed 8/30/2021. Upgrade from 67 markers.

I understand that, but do not understand why a COMPLETED line is posted at all when nothing has resulted. This is analogous to the Home Page now showing the latest uncompleted order as his test level in the "blue boxes", instead of more accurately showing his completed test level (Y37). I consider this a misrepresentation in the design of the new home page makeover.

The participant contacted FTDNA about this twice, most recently prompted by me, as an admin and genealogist very interested in his terminal SNP. He was told a week or so ago that a kit was being sent to re-swab, and it is unclear if this response is from his efforts to get answers. This is important because a lot can happen in six months during a pandemic, and would our investment in this process have gone unnoticed indefinitely had we not prompted him to ask about it?

Any luck yet? I am checking for a person with also a kit in batch #1225 also awaiting Big Y. His Y-111 results were completed a few weeks ago.

No, I received the markers 68-111 last week but I'm still waiting for the Big Y results. Hopefully in the next week or two.

Thanks mattn. The person who I am helping emailed FTDNA about three days ago, and the response was end of October or first of November. The Y-111 results for them were completed around 9/17. I was expecting a better turnaround on Big Y. If it is any consolation, with two of you in the same situation, I would say that most likely FTDNA is working on a backlog, rather than both of you having sample problems. Hopefully, FTDNA will clear it up sooner that later.

Glad it finally came in for you. Thanks for passing it along. The one that I was looking for is in, too.
