They may be giving priority to new Big Y testers than those going from Big Y500 to Big Y700. I was looking at some of the dates for kits that already have results. Those who ordered in December got the Big Y700 results after waiting between 1 to 3 months. While those who ordered in March took 4-6 months. Some still waiting.
I can confirm that are people in a group I belong to who have been part of later batches than me such as 960 that have been already processed whilst I'm still waiting as part of batch 954 since the 1st of April this year, 31st of March if you want to include actual order date rather than the batch date they've provided me.

It could just be a phoney date for all we know, just to keep us complacent.

It's a really good business model in a way, I have to applaud FTDNA for their shrewd behaviour, once older users have nickel & dimed (not really spare change to be honest) their way up the increasingly expensive levels of testing, they become more and more invested to the point that walking away and starting over somewhere else isn't really viable with how prices currently are, especially more so if the sample provider is no longer around to help start over. So FTDNA can afford to take these users for granted whilst generating new sales and prioritising newer customers, by prioritising new customers, they can expect a greater return on this labour allocation as good 1st impressions would be reciprocated by further orders whilst old customers are unlikely to be ordering any more tests, so there's an incentive to take the low risk of refunding older customers compared to currying favour with new customers.

For foreign users such as myself, getting a refund is even more of a hassle as I had to pay a non-refundable foreign exchange fee from my credit card provider to make the initial transaction to begin with.

Do we have any recourse? A British business could not behave so inappropriately, do any of the American users here know if FTDNA can get away with this or how this has effected their consumer rights?

Batch 962 ordered on April 28, 2019. Today was my 3rd delay. I was thinking about ordering Big Y 700 on another kit while the sale is on but with all the delays it's making me lean toward not doing it.

Batch 953 ordered Y-700 March 26, 2019. I wish I understood why it takes months and months to get the results. Results have been delayed at least 3 times so far.

Batch 953 delayed until late September. I’d say Christmas will be here before the result. After 27 September (6 months) I’ll ask for a refund and cancel the test. (I have Y500 which will do) Obviously they are more concerned in sales and getting orders. They used to be such a good company.

I'm in batch #953. Ordered upgrade on March 26, 2019 and it was batched the next day. However it has been delayed multiple times now. The last update as of yesterday now shows that my results might be ready sometime between Aug 28th-Sep 11th.

I have yet to receive results for Batch 884 ordered on 8 Aug 2018.

They required a new sample for the upgrade, but the sample was lost or never received. I sent it in before the end of 2018.
The expected due date kept being pushed back and then one day the whole tab for bigY results was removed from my page with no notification. I had faithfully and patiently watched the due date being pushed back week after week. I contacted ftDNA about the problem and they said they would send a new kit.
I found that a major problem with their system is the communication. There is no notification as to when a sample is actually received into their lab when a new sample is requested. It would be nice if they had a status tab next to the expected date where they could post updates such as "order received," "awaiting new sample," "sample received," "in process," etc.

On request I was told in July that the 2nd sample was received by their lab on 16 June 2019. Since then my expected date has been delayed at least 3 times.
    New expected date 08/19/2019-09/02/2019

I contacted ftDNA again to enquire about the date and they told me that my sample is in the lab being processed and that the very latest I can expect the results (assuming it passes quality assurance) is 20 Dec 2019.

    Just received this from FTDNA, part of the email here;

If you are waiting on Big Y-700 results, the below chart is a better guide for when you may expect to receive your results. The below dates are estimates, not guarantees, but we are confident in these delivery times.
so it looks like I'm in for more delays as the results I'm looking for are in batch 954 which falls in the March 20th - April 15th range.

I think this is my 6th delay. I did have to send in another DNA sample, but that was requested on March 27 and sent the next day. This was originally ordered 2/23/2019

That's interesting because user DWFlinneage posting above you has received his results from the same batch as you in 952.

So I'm guessing batch numbers don't matter even when the tests are the same?

My second automatic delay for batch 960, now 07/29/2019 - 08/12/2019. This rather opaque repeated comment 'Note that predicted dates are an estimate and subject to lab volume and quality control.' only creates concern about my test accuracy. More transparency would be helpful.
