    Newbie question For MTDNA.

I got my full HVR1, HVR2, and Coding Region results and I am designated as Haplogroup V. I see others have V10b, V11, V1a1b, etc...

Why are their results more specific? Mine is just V.

    Thanks

I am also a V but in the V project http://www.familytreedna.com/public/mtdnahaplogroupv/ I am grouped in a suggested new subclade. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/...tion=mtresults

I am also rather puzzled by my line that is part of the mt haplogroup V. I originally just ordered the simpler version of the mt test, and got the results that showed the V haplogroup. I then ordered the full mt test, but even when the coding region was added, the haplogroup was still just V.
I have had other mt lines in my family tested, and each of them only have a handful of matches. I am lucky to get more than a couple full matches in the course of a year on any of the other haplogroups. The EXCEPTION is the V haplogroup line where I get 2 or 3 full matches per week. I consequently have scores of V matches.
This very different outcome for the V haplogroup seems very strange to me. Can anyone explain it?
