  • Mtdna Haplogroup T2

I just got my results. I admit I know very little about all this. My results are as follows:

    HVR1 DIFFERENCES FROM RSRS
    T16126C A16129G T16187C C16189T T16223C G16230A T16278C C16292T C16294T C16296T T16304C C16311T

    HVR2 DIFFERENCES FROM RSRS
    C146T C152T C195T A247G 309.1C 315.1C 522.1A 522.2C

If there are any matches out there I would be happy to know.

There is a mtDNA T2 project you could join (see it listed under "Projects"

      T2 project

      Members' DNA

Check your profile. Be sure you've entered earliest known maternal ancestor - with location! Look at your privacy settings to be sure that "Who can view my DNA results in group projects? " is set to "anyone". (It won't identify you) And "Who can view my Earliest Known Ancestor? " should be "project members".

      Then join !

Is there any way that we can see what is posted in T2 group? We joined, and my dad is in the table of subclades, but we can not see a single post.

The T2 project seems to be completely dormant. When, after a few months, there was no activity, I withdrew. Nothing was posted, nothing. And, as I remember, there was little if any sorting.

But if your mtDNA includes the coding region, please contribute it to GenBank. There are surprising few T2s there. Ian Logan's page

            Survey

I noticed today on two kit I have access to (T2 is one of them). Maybe you can submitt your result via a Survey that FTDNA does for mtDNA (" mtDNA Full Sequence Release Survey")

That will upload your data "to NCBI as part of a future published paper". I'm not sure you will have that Survey, if you have it will be located on the lower left side on your dashboard

No. It will not be uploaded for years if then. I think the last time any were transferred was 2012. If you want to be assured you are contributing your sequence to research, ask Ian Logan to help you submit it directly to GenBank.

That was to bad then, thought it was an easy solution for people to quickly submit it. Wondering why FTDNA do this surveys if they don't use them for the public good after they have received the permission to do so

Joined the group in early 2016. Did you withdraw before then?

No, joined perhaps last May, withdrew relatively recently as there seemed no reason to be there. Is T2 correlated with introversion? Even coding region matches do not communicate. I will now go back into my hermitage.

                        Haha . I don't think so!

My matrilineal gt-grandmother was a VERY friendly lady(hence trying to solve a puzzle with autosomal DNA) who left her children with relatives and in orphanages for a couple of years and went overseas to pursue a stage career.
