So on paper, my maternal line is all English. I have traced it to 1560 and Lancashire England. However, my results just came back as I1a1a. Do you think I took a wrong turn somewhere with my research? So confused...
I'm not too familiar with mtDNA haplogroup I, but a quick look at wikipedia indicates that its highest frequencies in Europe are found in the Northwest, particular Brittany, the British Isles, and Norway.
The wikipedia article even references a paper suggesting that "Haplogroup I could. . . have been an ancient Southern Scandinavian type “diluted” by later immigration events" (Hofreiter 2010).
