My mother recently received H-refinment results of H13. I did a Google search and didn't find any info. Has anybody come across info on it?

Yes. My great-great-grandmother was from western Norway. I've only seen a few other H13 listed in various databases, and they are from all over the place: Ireland, Italy, Lebanon (and the United States).

Would love to see someone do a detailed map of the H13's out there so far.
That is interesting, H13 is also in Norway. Hummm.....

The most close match so far for H1&H2 for me are from Italy and lebanon. Rather interesting. Makes one wonder thats for sure.
Hope in time, things will become more clear.

I am also Western Norwegian H13.

I can trace my direct maternal line to the southern shores of Boknafjorden in Rogaland (about 1660). Boknafjorden is the southern most fjord in Western Norway (it's actually more of a bay rather than a fjord). My line has mainly lived on the southern isle of Boknafjorden. It's quite a way from the home of your great-grandmother, and we're two mutations away on HVR1. We're probably not closely related, I suppose. Still it is good to see there are other Norwegians in the rare H13-group.

Btw; I have a perfect HVR1 & HVR2 match with both one H13 from Ireland and one H13 from France.

Interbreeding 1500-1800

Because of North African (Barbary Coast) slave raids to Western Europe shores (incl. Iceland and Faroe Islands) from years 1500-1800 many people in North Western Europe today carry genes from the Mediterranean and North African gene pool.

This is escpecially distingtive in the population of the Faroe Islands and Norway.

Perhaps that can explain the geographical variety of H13. In fact, subgroup H13 could have developed that way?

Think the only dead on match I have so far on this web page, is the person that is from Sicily. At least I think that is the one.
Do not know how to contact this person to compare family histories, though I would like too.
