  • mtDNA Haplogroup T2B3 here (and on 23 and Me); Seeking Group of Others

    Hello to all,

This is my first Forum post. I completed the Family Finder test in 2014 and the mtDNA test just recently. Is there an established group for T2b3? I am just discovering the richness and depth of these results. One concern I have is that my world ancestor map appears totally blank. How could that be? Thanks!

    T2b3

    HI there,

I have tested first with 23andME, I belong to Haplo-group T2b3 and have applied my results to GedMatch (M460468) and My Heritage (23-BD9386). My maternal grandparents (Nagornuk/Dudka) were from Ukraine near Kiev and my Paternal grandparents (Lutz/Klufts) were from Alsace Loraine.

        T2c1

Hello, thank you for starting this thread. I am new at this. I am T2c1, mostly Iberian (Portuguese). My GED match number is #M157723.

I recently came across a paper that reports a possible link between haplogroup T2 and a higher risk of developing hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). HCM is a relatively common type of heart muscle disease that affects 1 in 500 people. Patients with HCM can be at risk for sudden cardiac arrest.

Mitochondrial function is known to be key in HCM, but mitochondrial sequencing is rarely done in HCM patients. Here's a link to the study, which was done in Spain in 2005:
        https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16313983

I do have HCM and I am at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. My maternal grandmother (also T2c1) died suddenly and prematurely in 1972.

I have been looking for others in haplogroup T2 who may hold other pieces of this puzzle.

        Thank you,
        Hugo
