  • New R1b1c SNPs and DYS markers!

There are new SNPs available for people who have already had the R1b Deep SNP test. A link to order the test is on the Haplogroup tab of you FTDNA personal page and it is only $39. The SNPs and their haplogroups are:

    U106 - R1b1c9
    U198 - R1b1c9a
    P107 - R1b1c9b
    U152 - R1b1c10

If you already tested the S-series at EthnoAncestry(EA), U106 = S21, U198 = S29, and U152 = S28. P107 is new and is different than S26; FTDNA is not testing for S26 or its equivalent L1 for some reason.

The ten new DYS markers can be found on the Advanced Orders page under Panel 9. These are the same markers that were once exclusive to EA and that they called the Y-STR10. Panel 9 is only $65, very inexpensive compared to EA.

    Hi
I still do not understand this really well ..are men who have had the deep SNP test the ONLY one's who should test with this?
It is not a shortcut in any way to show relationship?

MY Carrow website has my DE line and the NC Carrows at 37/37 match in R1b..in what way if any would these new tests help?

Also 2 of our Faunts are R1b...and Duggans are a high % R1b so can you give me any recommendations? Is it a testing that helps with relationship or is it mostly for geographic comparisons..

Would it show geography for my Carrow men who we think are Scots-Irish and prove that they are not indigenous Irish? Probably not I guess since the Tribes went back and forth..
    wondering
