  • Border Reiver Project Welcomes Genographic Project Members

    Hello,

Greetings to those of you who have been tested through the Genographic Project, and have elected to become a customer at Family Tree DNA. If you signed up for the Y chromosome DNA test, and your paternal descendants are from Northern Ireland, Northern England (especially Cumbria and Northumberland), or Southern Scotland (particularly The Borders and Dumfries & Galloway), the Elliott (And Border Reivers) DNA Project is very interested in hearing from you.

The Elliott (And Border Reivers) DNA Project is one of many Surname and Geographical Projects at Family Tree DNA which you can join. We are especially interested in individuals with the following surnames:

ARCHBOLD, ARMSTRONG, BEATTIE, BELL, BURNS, CARLETON, CARLISLE, CARNABY, CARR, CARRUTHERS, CHAMBERLAIN, CHARLTON, COLLINGWOOD, CRISP, CROZIER, CUTHBERT, CURWEN, DACRE, DAVISON, DIXON, DODD, DOUGLAS, DUNNE, ELLIOTT, FENWICK, FORSTER, GRAHAM, GRAY, HALL, HEDLEY, HENDERSON, HERON, HETHERINGTON, HUME, INGLIS, IRVINE, IRVING, JOHNSTONE, KERR, LAIDLAW, LITTLE, LOWTHER, MAXWELL, MILBURN, MUSGROVE, NIXON, NOBLE, OGLE, OLIVER, POTTS, PRINGLE, RADCLIFFE, READE, RIDLEY, ROBSON, ROUTLEDGE, RUTHERFORD, SALKELD, SCOTT, SELBY, SHAFTOE, STOREY, SIMPSON, TAIT, TAYLOR, TROTTER, TURNBULL, WAKE, WATSON, WILSON, WITHERINGTON, WOODRINGTON, YOUNG

There are already specific Surname Projects at FTDNA dedicated to some of these families - and we strongly encourage you to join those - but if no such project exists, you can always find a home with us. Even you decide to join another Surname Project, you can participate in our project informally by sharing with us your DNA results.

To get an idea of the goals and the scope of the Elliott (And Border Reivers) DNA Project, please visit our main web pages at:

    http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb....by_surname.htm
    http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb....haplogroup.htm

Our project currently has 130 official participants, and at least as many unofficial participants who - although tested with other companies or belonging to other Surname Projects - have kindly volunteered their DNA results to us. We have accumulated an overall database of 1,060 haplotypes which constitutes a broad survey of the Anglo-Scottish Border people, and our web pages can offer you a wealth of information for exploring the genetic origins of your own family.

Please me at [email protected] if you are interested in joining us - officially or unofficially - or even if you just have questions.
