  • Change of haplogroup

    Hi everyone,

I'm a complete novice in need of a little explanation.

After analyzing my DNA samples, the Genographic Project told me I belonged to the haplogroup W. But recently, I've consulted my result page again and it said haplogroup U5, with no explanation whatsoever of why it had changed. Can any of you shed some light on all this for me?

Here are the various results I got:
    16223T 16291T 16292T 16519C haplogroup W
    then
    16227G 16256T 16270T 16320T 16399G haplogroup U5

    Thanks!

This looks like a mixup of results at some point - I heard that this has happened once in the past to several people. So I would send them an email to doublecheck that they finally have the right set of results on.

both haplogroups are consistent with a European (or a mediterranean etc) origin.

Thanks for your answer. I've sent them an email and you were right, there's been a technical problem between April 12th and June 2nd, 2010 and the computer uploaded incorrect haplogroup results for 103 participants. They've corrected it and now everything is clear.
