  • Lost Kit, No Reply, What to do?

My wife sent in her Genographic kit at the beginning of September and my daily checks of her code only show kit not received. I have fired off two emails to the email address listed at the NGS for the project and have received no response other then an automated 'your email is important to us but we are busy' response.

I need advice on what to do next.

You can try emailing or calling Family Tree DNA -- they handle the received kits. See bottom of this webpage for contact information.

There is a small possibility that you misread the ID, or even that it was misprinted. When my friend submitted his sample to the Genographic Project but it did not appear on the web site as received, we sent an email describing the problem, and got a response admitting that some kits were shipped with one character of the ID misprinted!

If I recall correctly, the misprint was an 'B' for an '8', or vice-versa.

In any case, you might systematically try alternative readings of your ID. Try systematically switching between

        '1 and 'I'
        'B' and '8'
        etc.

          Hmm,

Looking over the number, the only one I can see being transposed as you described would be an s, so I tried a 5 there and no luck.

I emailed the contact us email at the bottom of the Forum page and will see what kind of response I get.

Jim, I have no idea of the email addresses for Max or Bennett.

            Got a response from FTDNA.

At the six week mark they will send out a mini-kit as a replacement for the apparently lost kit that was sent in.

Thank you to everyone that responded.

As of today, the Genographic site shows the kit as being received.

                Thanks to everyone that replied.
