  • I recently got my first HVR1 match (after a four year wait!) to a man of color with roots in Alabama. His Y is British Isles, his Mt Native American and he and his family have, for the most part, always lived their lives as African American.

      Congrats on your first match

Maybe this means that your mothers mothers side was from a tribe in Alabama. Or from one of the southern states, and her line moved to Alabama.
I know that some branches of my North Carolina lines moved to Alabama and Tennessee.

      • Tonight on WIOD Coast To Coast radio 610AM

        "Tonight's Show, Wed. August 26th:

Author, researcher, and archaeologist David Hatcher Childress will discuss his latest work uncovering evidence of ancient visitors to the American Southwest including Egyptians, Romans, and Chinese. He'll also share stories about hollow mountains full of gold, the mysterious Marfa Lights, and Thunderbirds. "

        • This sounds wild, but I heard that Egyptian artifacts were found in the Grand Canyon.

I then googled it and found a bunch of links about it. I'll post just one.

Yes, the first white settlers in Alabama were from the Carolinas and, it is estimated, the majority of slaves brought to the New South came with their masters (rather than through slave auctions). So, any slave line with Indian admixture likely has eastern roots in the Old South. However, the lore in his family is that an Alabama Cherokee slaveholder married one of her black slaves. If I have correctly identified them in the census it is more likely she was a descendant of a former slaveholding family.

Come on. That was a report of a sensasionalist newspaper in 1909!
It is just common sense to understand that if such a "wonderful" news would have some truth, by now, a century later, the discovery would be confirmed. It isn't.

There weren't Egyptians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Chinese or Green Martians in pre-Contact Americas, I am afraid.

Those fantasies could be funny, but unfortunatelly robb the heritage of Native Americans, so they hurt theirs legacy.

He is not a scientist, I am afraid, but an author that promotes pseudoscience. Somebody not more informed than Von Danniken, Von Sertima, Clyde Winters and many others of the same kind.
I am sad to know how much attention the media gives such "personalities".

                    • I wanted to hear the coast to coast am interview with Childress, but I missed it. I rarely hear anything in the media about Native Americans.

                            I remember you, of course.

This is the chapter on the Powhatan, and the English invasion of the region

                            • Re Jamestown, VA

The mosquitos around Jamestown must have been ferocious!

I noticed in the above video that the British sailed in from the southeast. That shows that they sailed along the path of least resistance - the North Atlantic Gyre. That would take them close to the Lesser Antilles, e.g. Barbados. Which is one reason why the British were involved with the Caribbean area.

                              • Coast to coast am does mention the Mayans and 2012 a lot. And various guests say that it is a cycle that the earth goes thru every 13,000 years. There will be a pole shift and it would affect electromagnetic energy. The changes will start when the earth will be at the galactic center of the Milky Way -- winter solstice 2012. One person on the radio said Feb. 19, 2013. Someting similar happened to Venus. Venus went upside dow 3,000 years ago, and is still upside down.
