An unusual first number in my sequence?

I received my Genographic sequence numbers a couple of days ago -- I'm T2, BUT I am very puzzled by my sequence. What on earth can it mean?

Here are the numbers:
16042A
16126C
16257-
16294T
16296T
16304C
16519C

I have not found anyone else that matches with that first number - most of the other T2's start with my 2nd number - 16126C.

Can someone please tell me what that first number signifies if anything? Why does it seem to be unusual?

Hi Kittymom. I just checked our K project and there is one person with the 16042A mutation. One out of 174. In their case, as probably in yours, it's simply a random personal mutation. It doesn't help to assign you to a subclade, but if you find a match there is a much better chance of a closer relationship. Hope this helps.

Does the fact that it is the first mutation in the sequence mean it was actually the first mutation - that is, do the mutations happen in the order they are sequenced?

And finally, can the first mutation give any clues about what time period it took place?

No, the mutations are just in numerical order. I don't know enough about your haplogroup to tell you anything about the mutation order, but the one in K is almost certainly the last mutation in that person's HVR1. The mutations are numbered in order around the mtDNA circle.
