  • 99% Asia Minor

    Hello,

I recently got my results from the Genographic Project and I got 99% Asia Minor.
I'm Lebanese, my mom is of Armenian/Greek descent and my dad is Greek Orthodox Lebanese (Rum ethnicity).
I was expecting a bit more diversity, like some Arabian and some Southern European...can anyone explain why i would get 99% Asia Minor?
Also my Maternal Line is H15A1. My Paternal Line is G-F4297. which i understand are very rare lines. does anyone know what they mean?

You have homebodies! And in a place with a such a complex, rich, enthralling history: Hittites, Neo-Hittites, Hurrians, Greeks, Lydians, Phrygians, Urartians, Trojans, Canaanites! And you wish you had a couple of vanilla Brits? Can I recommend, from the Great Courses series, Great Ancient Civilizations of Asia Minor (audio or video - 12 hours total). You can probably borrow it from a local library. If not, wait for a sale. For an instant summary read this: http://www.ancient.eu/Asia_Minor/

I think H15A1 is more or less from the same area. People have asked about it in a couple of prior posts though I’ll doubt you’ll find them very useful.

Here is the really technical starting point
    http://haplogroup.org/mtdna/rsrs/l12...15/h15a/h15a1/

I know nothing about your Y-DNA but didn’t genographic walk you through it? Step by step, mutation by mutation. If you missed that part go back to your results and page through it.
Then you can trace the same path - but with considerably more difficulty - here:

I’m really unhappy with genographic now that it uses Helix, and will never do another test there, but I must say their results screens are very well done. And the stand-alone infographic would make for a great sweatshirt.

YFull considers F4297 to be at the same level as CTS11562. Take a look at their G-CTS11562 haplotree.
