  • Newbie with a question.....

Am new to the group and have a seemingly simple question:
Is it safe to assume that there will be an EXACT mtdna match among ALL of my mother's female children and female grandchildren? Grandsons, too?
    Thanks!

Well, there can be a mutation at any time, but the rate of mutation for mtDNA is slow enough that it is a safe assumption that the mtDNA will be the same after only two generations.

With one qualification: Your mother's grandchildren (both grand-daughters and grand-sons) will share her mtDNA only if they were born from your mother's female children.
