Have you each uploaded your DNA information to Ysearch/MitoSearch? The advantage of Ysearch/MitoSearch is that it can find partial matches. On your Matches tab, perhaps, there should be a hyperlink to automatically upload your DNA data into Ysearch/MitoSearch.

There are some McClure's in my line, but they hail from Northern Ireland county Down not Scotland.

The best thing would be to try and establish a paper trail.
