My Y-DNA group is N (550+/1025+ w/ FT testing). My mtDNA is listed as U5b1. My "Who am I?" lists my second largest percentage as Mediterranean (Tuscan).
Using traditional genealogy, the farthest back I can trace my paternal line is Sciara, Sicily (very odd for type N). Maternal line I can trace to Canada and most likely Britain.
My paternal grandmother's family was from the Rome, Italy region. Could this be the "Tuscan" portion of my percentages? I guess my question is: I understand the lineage of the Y-DNA and mtDNA, at least how they are estimated, etc. But does the autosomal analysis pick up on paternal/mother's side and maternal/father's side markers, etc?
