    True story

8 years ago, struggling through divorce and life, I prayed on a ancient Indian mound in East Texas for me to finally find my answers in life. Who I was and where did I come from? As well as the greater meanings of spiritual awareness.

Right after that prayer, in doing a little research I was able to find a judge who would open adoption records. I had them opened found my mother's name and began my research. I found who my mother was through traditional research. In researching her family tree, I bought a Mt DNA test not thinking it would reveal much but I was surprised. My DNA is Haplogroup I no model insertions and deletions. In addition, I found families who through the family tree I was related too. My direct line maternal is Tabitha Bounds and Agnes Cole (the brickwall), my grandfather through Tabitha's husband was James Bounds whose direct maternal line goes to Anne Dyks. The Cole and Bounds married and migrated together through several lines. What this means is I descend from two lines of Anne Dykes. Agnes Cole and her direct line must have also been Anne Dykes, not rare in those times for families to intermarry. In Cornwall, the Cole and Edgecombes married each other and I also matched a person from those families.

Simply put, a Mt DNA test reconfirmed my biological mother, confirmed a Family tree going back to the 1600's, confirmed Welsh, Cornish, Irish, English, Swiss German and Native American ancestry

Amazing what faith and science together can sometimes accomplish

      Thanks,

It has been a long journey. I also found ancestors who applied for Cherokee Nation citizenship in 1896 on the Dawes rolls. DNA confirmed that ancestry as well through autosomal tests and the mtDNA test.

      Amazing.
