  • mtDNA test confirming sub-saharan ancestry

Definitely a success story - we had a paper trail that led back to St Eustatius / St Maarten in the Carribbean and to two children of John Packwood Jennings and "the girl Betsie" (as per his will) (John and Eliza).

An Nth cousin turned up who was matrilinearally descended from the female child Eliza, and on mtDNA testing she was found to have haplogroup L2a1, pretty firmly confirming the paper trail and her origin as a slave on a plantation on St Maarten.
