Request Shut Down of Forum until Spam is Effectively Blocked

Wow... I've seen spam get through every once in a while but this is really terrible guys. Maybe Family Tree DNA needs to do a massive virus and spam sweep of their servers. I hate spammers.

Yes, it would be nice if the spam could be blocked. What us as ordinary users should do is not to click on the spam threads and definitely not buy anything from them. Hovering the cursors on a thread title before clicking will usually reveal if the thread is spam and not worth to visit.

Received a reply to my e-mail about this board being hijacked by spammers, from Leah Wark of FTDNA. They're aware of the problem, and they are working on a solution that will not hinder legitimate users. I guess we'll just have to wait. Meanwhile, I can recommend DNA-Forums, as have many others.

I actually unsubscribed to DNA-Forums( or tried to) after the founder jumped into a forum here unannounced and with comments that were uncalled for..
I felt that he was quite rude and not really well informed..

The "unsubscribe" button does not work so well at DNA Forums..

I have been a member of these forums for a long time and do post here so your 'jumped into a forum here unannounced' is an odd statement. Also what comments were uncalled for that I made? My questioning of the validity of Autosomal DNA testing for genealogy? I did not attack anyone personally as you and another party did with me. One person accused me of being drunk and to put away the beer and you offered to get a breathalyser. So explain again about uncalled for comments please.

This I guess: Out of the blue.. I felt invaded and I felt it was uncalled for..
and I ran an Addictions program( County IDRC) in NJ for 10+ years so that is what it felt like..the proverbial elephant in the living room... hence my comment

Point me to the thread in that forum that personally attacks any named individual and I will deal with it. I have not seen a direct attack on an individual there. If there is it is inappropriate and corrective action will be taken.

OK, I checked those forums and cannot find any "rumblings against ..."another party ". I have been waiting for you to point me at those posts, and you have been online several times since my request with no response. So I must take your accusations for what they are, baseless.

I am also curious why the discussion in the other thread was brought by you to this thread? It does not seem to be a logical place to discuss this matter and seems more like a spite 'thing'. I am sorry you reduced this issue to this level.
