The 37 marker matches is showing people who are more likely to possibly be closely related within certain timeframes. 12 and 25 markers are not as accurate due to the lower number of markers tested which inherently means less room for large genetic distances.

If those matches at 37 markers maintain to 67 AND 111 markers they may be related to you within a genealogical timeframe.

    YDNA37 question

    Hi everyone,
Apologies if this is an obvious question, but I haven’t been able to find an answer elsewhere.
My Y-DNA test results have come back as follows
    *37 markers – 5 matches – all with a genetic distance of 4
    *25 markers – 62 matches – all with a genetic distance of 2
    *12 markers – 356 matches – all with a genetic distance of 1 or 0
I was, however, expecting that the 37 markers test would show those more closely related to me – in terms of ‘genetic distance’ - but the opposite seems to be the case i.e. the 12 marker test has produced 356 matches that are all closely related?
Am I understanding this correctly? (probably not )
    Thanks
    Adam
