  • Will government acknowledge you DNA?

Hi,everyone. Would someone tell me if it's possible to get your DNA recognized by our government and it's institutions? My whole life people wondered where I'm from ,even I didn't really know. But now I know, can nail it on the head, but our goofy government doesn't really care what I am, though they'll harangue me about it . I think the US ought to make a BIO ID to go along with your regular birth certificate, driver's license, and passport. It could be optional, and it could be edited, since genealogy's always advancing, besides everyone hasn't gotten complete testing on both sides of their family or gotten recombination testing yet. Maybe it could be for people who want it,just like DNAtesting is now;I'd certainly get it .I wouldn't want to be accused of being someone I've never heard of,from a place I've never seen.People will say I'm Mexican, but I'm not Native American,or Spanish, like Mexican's are.I might visit Mexico, marry a Mexican,or live in Mexico if I want, but I'm not a real Mexican-I think people should understand that.Besides, all speculations should be proven ,in order for you to really know what your dealing with. from:Jambalaia32

DNA CAN tell where you're from-it always could

That doesn't sound like genetics to me.How can people find out they're Jewish or half Indian,or confirm any ethnicity and it not count towards being that ethnicity? That's like saying,"your DNA test says you're Chinese, but us Americans say you aren't. Well WHAT Are You Then? Nothing? Only FLAVORED Chinese-like Teriyaki? ( I'm not speaking about Chinese,in particular,I'm just using that as an example). DNA is used to tell where the ancient dead are from, and can tell where we are from today. Jambalaia32

You made reference to Mexico several times in your original post. I understood that you were literally talking about "where you are from", something that governments are interested in but genetics can shed no light on.

If you meant "where an ancestor (or two) may have resided thousands of years ago" then genetics may make a contribution. Why would any government be interested in such information?

I don't understand what your talking about Bob!Genetics does shed light on who you are and where you're from -because ,If you're a certain Haplogroup then you ARE that ethnicity. If your Mom's African, you're mt L . If your Mom's Native American then you'd have a Native Indian Haplogroup-and Bob listen, that means that you are -don't you understand? That's why Native Americans use DNA Testing-to see who's one of them so they can get Native benefits! Didn't you know that? Jambalaia32 But,DNA can identify everyone, everyone.

Yeah, thanks for informing me. I coulda looked that up in the dictionary.I mentioned that as an example-but at the moment I'm more interested in what I am ,not what Teriyaki is. If I irked you ,I'm sorry.

Yeah these are fightin' words, but they needs be said. The govt should have worried about these various people fightin' before they allowed us all to come to this country from our native lands. Furthermore your breed ain't voluntary, you're born a certain way and the govt should act like they know which kind you were born. The govt always proposes/implies I'm foreign, but thay never prove it -why don't they prove it? My DNA results say I'm not Indian ,Spanish ,or Twainese(polynesian),so why don't the govt acknowledge I'm not and stop playing stupid like they don't know where I'm from. They could know if they wanted to.They and the citizenry try to act like I don't say who I am,when what I am ain't being acknowledged by the authorities and the masses. The govt does recognize some people, but not everyone. Government Recognization

I know what Jumbolaia is refering to; the duplicitous Equal Opportunity data collection and Affirmitive Action opportunities. If his genetic tests show that he is eligible for such treatment then he feels he should very much be able to take advantage of this special treatment.

Eventually there will be law suits over this. EO & AA won't have a leg to stand on. I've seen many results and they show that everybody is a minority of one. All this special treatment will have to be scrapped or the government and business will be bled dry.

                        To B52

That's sweet and all,but why does everyone assume I'm a minority? Why not assume I'm a child of Europeans,or royals,-which I am.Yes, answer me that. No, I only want to be known if I'm Indian or African,or Hispanic.I guess they're the only folks who show up for work everyday anyway.Everyone white is sick, dead,or on vacation. Actually since everyone has a race/ethnicity I think it's important for an individual and their government to know which it is.If God or evolution made you blank then there would be no reason to call you anything ,for you would have nothing to identify yourself with.No country,no language,no racial background, just an old blank. But that's not the case my good fellow,so you see, ethnic identification connects me to a tribe,a people, and a land ,with customs. That sets the perimeters for this person.Besides, some people love their roots and others would rather not know, even if it is all good. Some people are paranoid and think they'd be kidnapped without any definite identification-like me.Besides,MOST people are identified but I'm not among them and so I SHOULD be identified! Scrap YOU B52?

Scrapped? B52 ,you can't ever scrap identity. And I'm not asking for SPECIAL treatment, only that the governments acknowledge that my genes are a certain sort,so that makes ME a certain sort, that I'm not everyone near me,so I couldn't possibly be capable of everything. If they all think so God Damned much of you as they claim, you'd think they'd want to know what in HELL YOU ARE. I just can't relate to the BLANKO mentality that modern cavepeople have nowadays. Even Animals are classed into BREEDS and so are fruits, plants,so why not you? I'm not supposed to know who you are? C'mon that sounds far-fetched.So far it's only the White folks that don't want gene identification;ALL of the other people on the planet are more honest and proud of their racial background. Also, why shouldn't the government acknowledge what so many labs have confirmed? If it's true, why not admit it.I'm rather sure the government is pretending not to know me,so they can accuse me of anything they want, any time they want.I'd force every citizen to be accurately identified-if I was dictator, but I'm not someone else is and they're stealing my identity and body.

Are you saying that you are paranoid, or that you've been kidnapped?

                              Just curious.
