  • brothers/uncles dna results

would brothers kids all have the same dna results?

this is an older family with a son born 1782.

would all his brothers and their kids have the same dna results?

we could have two mothers - so which marks would be different?

and we are testing a gg grandson born 1930's
and comparing it with a gg grandson from another brother of his?

    hope that makes sense.

I can't get logged on to the forum for administrators!!
    thanks for explaining

The answer is yes - provided that we are talking about Y-dna and that by "kids" you mean sons.

All male descendants of a man will have the same Y-dna. Of course there may be some mutations, particularly over a number of generations, but it will still be recognisably similar.

In similar fashion mt-dna is passed from a woman to all of her kids - sons and daughters. Only her daughters will pass that on to her kids.

Since you were talking of males I am assuming you are more interested in Y-dna.
