I agree totally with comments 58 and 59.
It was the only DNA forum I really relied upon to know what was goling on and now there is nothing - at least 3 new forums sites have sprung up but there does not seem to be anything like the volume of posts goping on that used to, even on molen.org which looks like being the largest with 209 members last time I looked .

Give it time. A new "dominant" site will develop organically. I just hope it is as international as dna-forums.

Membership is currently at 30 (18 Mar 2012).
Like all of the new forums, content is a bit thin.
This forum has a similar look and feel of the old dna-forums.org

You either need to be approved by the forum owner, or your email address needs to be validated. Have you checked your email in box?

Thanks. Nothing yet. I'll keep an eye out. Maybe you could give poor Saud McDonald's working address. That's what I tried to do.

Sad thing is that DNA-Forums is a tremendous historical database on ongoing research.

Let's hope it comes back.

Yeah. Fortunatly I was able to save some crucial posts I remind from G-Cache. But there is many more.

Pete is a nice guy, but he wasn't a founder of dna-forums. He came along much later. George van der Merwede founded dna-forums originally using his own Van der Merwede family genealogical site. I was in on the founding back in 2006 and was one of the first administrators. I helped set up the sub-forums and recruited nearly all the first members (some will remember that).

I left back in 2009 because I did not like some of the things that were going on, but that is all I will say about that.

I am not unhappy to see dna-forums go, but it wouldn't bother me if it came back either. I just don't go there. I'm happy posting here and at World Families Network.

Sorry about my error with Peter. About the rest: I think to have more options is better. DNA-discussions in Forums are to often complicated, with (hidden) agendas and full with personal vendettas. Seldom I have found long discussions about controversial topics, that are open minded, constructive and focused on extending knowledge.

It is that address that has been down continuously since March 4.

At one stage George had both .com and .org, and he used .com for development.
