I got a friend that is 6 foot 1 and wears a 29 in the lenght in pants. His arms are short too. His neck is short and his head is HUGE. His hands are huge and his fingers look like big polish sausages. His nose is wide and it is nearly impossible to make the man cold. It's unrealistic how at home he is in extremely cold temps in a short sleeve shirt and shorts. I gotta wonder about him. LOL And no , i'm not exxagerating one bit.
Well the claim is that people of European ancestry have 1 to 4 % Neanderthal DNA. I have 3.1% or 98th percentile. I even bought the t shirt. ( yes they actually sell them). I don't think anyone would know it by looking at me . lol
This is through 23andme whereas Interpretome shows none.
So I am nor sure if it works well at that site.
I was watching something on Discovery or History and they said there has been no Neanderthal DNA found in modern humans. 23andme told me I do but In have some doubts
All this Neanderthal hoopla is pretty comical. Seriously the papers that I have read do not prove we have neanderthal SNPs or neanderthal ancestry. No one is writing papers saying we share 99.5% of DNA with chimps. New studies are always coming out with different claims to wow the public. Until we have a large number of neanderthal full genomes (not just one like now) compared to many modern human full genomes all these neanderthal calculators and percentages really are just pure speculation and about as meaningful as rolling dice and writing down the numbers. It does get the masses excited about DNA and ancient history, so that certainly is good thing. I would not call it science. Nothing in science is proven with just one sample and neanderthal DNA is not an exception.
This is really just like the scientists a few years back who ran BGA on 7 markers to determine people's ancestry. It was on the right track, but without the needed resolution to justify all the exciting claims.

So right just another gimmick to get people excited
Interpretome did not work right for me at all. It went through ok but did not register on the meter. My results were obtained at 23andMe and showed me in the 98th percentile . By the way I just consider it a fun thing to do.
I don't take things like this seriously.
