mtDNA numbers/letters

I see from the example that the mtDNA results consists of a bunch of number/letter combinations. Does this give a person indications of where their ancestors came from? Like what race/ancestry?

How?

I'm wondering how a person interprets the information. Is any interpretation provided?

It looks really confusing but it looks pretty clear or at least somewhat interpreted in the Y-DNA test example. Or am I confusing the whole matter?

Can someone clear this up please?

The letters and numbers have no geographic meaning as such.
