can DNA tests tell whether someone has native American or Chinese ancestry?

  • #2
    Why

Why do you want to exclude these tests?

If you want a good answer you need to provide all of the information you have.

Maybe you are looking for an answer to the question, can Family Finder provide ancestral origins? The answer is it includes a report called Population Finder.

OK if my Y-haplogroup is R1b and my mitochondria group is H, would the test still be able to decipher if I had native American and or Chinese ancestry?

Family Finder's Population Finder might but it depends on how much of such ancestry's you have. There are only a certain number of samples it can reference and the ability to match particular sample sets depends on your unique admixture of your past ancestry.

The other problem is that there is a reluctance among many Native Americans to DNA test, and there are still relatively few East Asian records compared to European.
