I understand. I started my search in 1979, and got my first (and still unsolved) brickwall a few months later. Like you, I guess, I'm trying to solve my family history before I'm just a part of it.

BTW, I still have my Single 8 and Super8 mm cameras ...

No. Never had an 8 Track. But I did have a Bang & Olufsen Reel to Reel in the house. AFAIK, 8 Tracks never did make good movies ...

cool Colin, porblem is today there is no place to develop it. I digitize 8 and super8 to DVD's. I am in the process now of building a new puter for it, my last one lit up like a lighting bolt

Good reason to leave the super8 cam on the shelf ...

Ummm, I think this is now officially 'off topic' ...

It is super8mm's thread who seems to be joining in on the off topic conversation. But is it off topic since you are discussing their forum poster user name? I still have my Godzilla movies on 8mm.

Now back to DNA topic.............super8mm best way to go is getting more matches on Y-DNA.

the sad thing is that a lot of folks are ruining their family memories by storing the film in plastic bags or airtighrs containers.

i did some from the late 40's and the guy saw peoply he had not thought of in years so he started tracking them down. sort of like my quest

Mine last I saw them were stored in a shoebox at my family (not mine) house in a closet. I know my father had some of the family film transferred to VHS years ago and they were fine and he always kept the 8mm in a shoebox. The problem is the VHS transfer of the 8mm has now been destroyed over time.
