Not one word about sale on FTDNA home page. So please tell me how that is plainly posted?

Unlike the past FB only 24 hour and 36 hour sales, I realize this one last a while and based on it's repeat history should not be much of a surprise for any prior FTDNA customer. But that said, I really think a broadcast e-mail of the sale to all existing FTDNA customers and not just the Project Admins would show more appreciation for those customers.

Meanwhile, offering even better sale pricing than most of the last 3 years+ worth of sale would show even more appreciation, wouldn't it?

Still a disappointment even though it's exactly as expected.

I can only assume they're still getting a reasonable response rate using the same sale rates as many times as they have, though I have some difficulty understanding how that could be.

Looks like Project Administrators were sent e-mail, but not your average FTDNA customer. CeCe Moore's posted on it FTDNA FB page and ISOGG FB group.

As we approach the holiday season, we feel having one BIG promotion for a sufficient amount of time best supports our volunteer Administrators, in their effort to recruit new members. Current members will also benefit by having simultaneously reduced prices for upgrades.

Effective immediately this promotion will end on December 31, 2011.

We hope that this will give a big boost to your projects!

AT THIS TIME, WE WILL NOT BE OFFERING DISCOUNTS FOR THE Y-DNA111, NEW KITS OR UPGRADES. THOSE MAY BE OFFERED AT A LATER TIME PENDING THE LAB VOLUMES WITH THE TESTS UNDER PROMOTION.

So looks like same sale pricing as most of the sales in the past 3 years, so probably not worth purchasing FF as compared to purchasing test from 23andMe and doing the $50 upload later. Still no discount on the Y111 upgrade, bummer, so looks like only thing I might consider purchasing myself might be another Y37-67 upgrade, but probably hold off until I see what 23andMe does with their sale (most likely Thanksgiving week) and more likely to spend my money there.

Lower price on FF and lower price on Y111 upgrade on my wish list. Hopefully other consumers will have some interest and help grow the databases.

Some of the tests appear to be cheaper for new subscribers than existing subscribers. For example FamilyFinder+mtDNAPlus is $318 for new subscribers, while it is listed for me as $438 (although the two purchased individually would be $199+$149=$348). Is that FTDNA's usual practice or an error?

Yeah.. I wonder myself. Something must of happened IT-wise... I haven't heard anything new but the sale wil be here soon enough and definitely will go to the end of the year. I'd guess IT hit a roadblock or needed to wait. They have a big push coming out tomorrow too so maybe its a "let's do them both" kind of thing. Who knows.

Response 2: You missed one alright - Holiday Sale 2011...

#1 - yes - and actually didn't take much to do search in my e-mail and cut/paste.

    #2 - that's what we're waiting for
