I just received my mtDNA Clan H - refine results, and it came out as "HV"

I assume this is the direct ancestor to both H and V?

"HVR1 differences for CRS" - 16248T

Maternal line is Swiss German back 300 years ago, from the Zurich area.

Any other HVs out there?

HV mtdna

I was tested as HV mtdna. It's a lonely club. The furtherest back we have the female line in our family is just a hundred and a little years with the name truitt which I assume to be German/European. If you want to look at my mutations I am hjhu3.

Am a little confused.... my Tests came up with HVR 1 & 2. I know I am in the H group, but what does the V & R stand for?

I also do not have any CRS mutations.

Any ideas?

hrv is the type of test 1 &2 the levels
so when you refer to the first stage it is hrv1
and the 2nd stage is hrv2
haplogroup h is a different thing way too many h's around here

When I was watching the Video that was on my Geo web page,, he said I was in the Haplogroup H by way of R.

Ya, figures I would be in the largest group, and with no CRS mutations to boot!!

The "HVR" in HVR1 and HVR2 stands for Hyper Variable Region. They are areas in your mitochondrial DNA that have a tendancy to mutate faster than other areas. Instead of going to the expense of testing the entire Motochondrial DNA sequence these are the most common areas to test.

Though I do find it interesting that I have no mutations as far as that test was concerned. Now has me wondering what that means??

Shari, your DNA is compared with the Cambridge Reference Sequence (CRS), for differences. The CRS is merely the first woman tested, and has no magical significance. You just have the same sequence as she did, ie., the CRS.

I have my results: Haplogroup H

HVR1 differences from CRS 16167T a blank space and the number 16519C (what do those numbers stand for they do not relate to the chart.)

HVR2 differences fromCRS 263G a blank space and the number 315.1C ( Again these numbers do not relate to the chart. Sequence chart.

HV information?

I received my mtDNA results and I am Haplogroup HV also. I can find very little information about this Haplogroup, where it originated (western Europe?), what regions of the world HV's are in today (Europe and Near East?), and how common is HV in Jewish populations, either Ashkenazic or Sephardic? I would be interested in anything you know about HV. Thanks.

I'm HV1

I just got my results back this week and I'm HV1... I don't know what the difference is between being just HV and HV1, I can't seem to find anyone who can answer.
This is for Shari, when you look at your mtDNA results pages, you'll notice that there are two difference sets of number sequences. The first set are your actual results. The little "table" that is just above them says "HVRI Haplogroup" next to that, to the right is the name of your group. Beneath that are numbers (for example 16041A or 18345C) those are your mutations. If you then look down at the actual numbered and lettered sequences, you'll see your mutations highlighted in red. At the heading of those sequences it says HVR1 Reference Sequence those are yours. The SECOND set of sequences, written in light blue says HVR2 Refernce Sequence. Those are NOT yours. They are essentially a "baseline" set of sequences by which to compare your own. They were in theory "everywoman" or Eve or whomever was the first woman sequenced by Cambridge University when doing their first studies of Mitochondrial DNA.
At least that is what I've been able to gather so far.
This site sure could use some better information and more definition. Many of us are just out here bumping into each other in the dark.
