starting a new dna project?

I was just wondering how one goes about this. I'd like to start one for the area immediately around the Rhine River. About 95% of my German ancestors (and 100% of my "French" ancestors) came from this area. I'm still waiting to see the outcomes for my father & grandfather's dna tests, but, rather than strict German/French dna projects, one like this would fit my family much better.

Still waiting on results My father's mtdna goes back to Moselle, France, supposed to be in 9/9/11. And unfortunately my grandfather's kit hasn't shown up yet, but when it does, both his ydna & mtdna go back to just south of Freiburg, abt 2 towns over from one another, not far from the Switzerland border.

But based on the high concentration of H in the area, I'd be surprised if at least one of them isn't H.

Maternal haplogroup H is by far the most common one in Europe. Your closest matches maybe from Germany and Sweden, but H in general is quite widespread. Almost half of Europeans are H, plus a significant plurality in North Africa, the Middle East, Caucasus, Siberia, and Central Asia.
