I have seen some claims that J1 is younger than J2. One even claimed it was just over 1,000 years old.
I checked the J1c3d [Tested] on ysearch.org. Some are as far apart as a genetic distance of 44 such as a 67 marker test between E43PY [Duncan] and KBZSZ [Leon-Guerrero].
I checked the TMRCA with the calculator at: http://www.scs.illinois.edu/~mcdonald/tmrca.htm
The point where probability is over 50% is 335 generations. If a generation is 20 years, that is 6700 years. If it is 25 years, that is 8375 years between the two I checked. It is possible they are related within 209 to 521 generations. That would be from 4180 years to 13,005 years in Time to Most Recent Common Ancestor.
I have created a J1c3d haplotype for predictive purposes and hope it will assist those in considering testing for more SNPs. I have it listed under the ysearch.org account under EVH4G. It is under the "Surname" of "J1c3d Modal Haplotype" for those who are interested.
This is the closest I will come to "peer review," so feel free to give my work a critique with logical arguments.
