  • 111 marker results

    Well, they finally came in.

I have 1 match at 111 markers and it has 8 GD's. This person also shows up as a 67/6 match. Nothing before that. This persons last name is a variation of MANY of the other matches I have.

    What does it all mean???

    Thanks

According to the FAQ, it's probably not a close match. However, which markers do you differ on? If they're mostly on faster mutating markers, it could be a decent match.

Are the surnames of your other matches the same as your surname, or are you perhaps an adoptee (or descendant of one) trying to find that out?

Using the McDonald MRCA calculator, your Y67/6 match has a 50% chance at a common ancestor in 18 generations, while the Y111 test actually brings it in slightly to 50% at 16 generations.

Short version, it wasn't all the close to start with.

But don't despair.... It's going to be a while before a lot of people start taking the Y111 test.
