        Thanks Vraatyah,
I guess I'll have to study mtDNA the way I did YDNA to figure out whats going on. Shouldn't take more than a lifetime! LOL!

            Cinda,

i suspect your 192 transition misleaded you. its quite ambiguous as an indicator of u5a subclade. for some reasons 224-270 defines u5b rather than u5a. in any case 224 seems much more reliable than 192, i have about 10 sequences with 192-224-270 all classified as u5b.

              MTDNA Understanding - Help

Similiarly to Cinda's post, I have received the following information on my mtdna:
              HVR1 Haplogroup H
              HVR1 Mutations
              16051G
              16162G
              16465T
              16519C

According to FTDNA I have one exact match and no other matches. Okay, so far so good. But what the heck does this mean? I know the big picture stuff about the H hapologroup (I think), but what about the mutations? Does this "narrow down the field" and is it familiar/similiar to anyone elses results?
              Thanks for the help.

I understand you perfectly. I received mine, L1b but noticed that in your HVR2 we have two exact mutations 16519c and 16207t. Any assistance would be great.
