I'm about to go on 2 weeks holiday. In that time, which 2 introductory books on genes should I read, to take me (a non-scientist) from zero to expert ?

Here is a list of some good books. Of these, Spencer Wells' The Journey of Man is probably the best place to start. Noit mentioned on that list, but also a good place to start is Stephen Oppenheimer's book, The Real Eve. There is a documentary for each of these books as well. After reading those books, you might want to read the following articles as well: http://www.familytreedna.com/library.html
My recommendation for a 2 week holiday would be Sykes book Seven Daughters of Eve if you haven't already read it. It would be perfect.
Has anyone read: Unlocking Your Genetic History : A Step-by-Step Guide to Discovering Your Family's Medical and Genetic Heritage
by Thomas H. Shawker.
If anyone has, I would appreciate knowing how it was. (My concern is that it might be too simple and common sense for readers who already do standard genealogical pursuits- death certificates and the like - as well as alread doing genetic testing. Would like to know more before I buy it)
