  • FYI-PBS Documantary "ADOPTED-For the Life of Me

Since there are a lot of adoptees using DNA testing here, I wanted to post this information for those interested. This excellent documentary is airing today and several other days across the USA, mostly on PBS WORLD. Check your local cable listings for the channel. To search for the channel in your area you may go to:

In the Boston viewing area it is airing at 7 PM and midnight tonight. For me it is channel 209.

      Screenings

Thank you for sharing the info & link.
While it is not aired in Detroit, there is the option to hold-host a 'public screening' in your area, here is the link http://www.adoptedforthelifeofme.com...s.php#Michigan

Thank you for posting this. I won't be able to watch it but I will see if my local library has the DVD or see if I can get it.

My Biological grandfather was adopted in Ma. even though this is one of the states know you can get some of the adoption records the catch is you have to be the child of the adoptee not the grandchild.

I did manage to get a copy of his atual birth cert. no father listed. Not to drag this on but he was adopted 2 times once as a child the 2nd as a legal adult by his 2 nd stepfather.

I see that it has already aired in a lot of Michigan I areas, but it is still going to be aired in the East Lansing and Flint area, and in many other states. It usually airs on PBS WORLD. You can call your local PBS station and ask them to please air it on your local station if it is not being shown. I can tell you that a lot of PBS stations all over the country are getting phone calls! You can look up your state, and the date/time/channel, using this link:

I have also read on one of the adoption/birth family search and reunion sites that if you make a donation to Jean so she can continue her wonderful work, she will send you a copy of the film as a thank you. I have not verified this yet, but it may mention this on her site.

The film was very moving and powerful and very well done. Not a dry eye at my house.
