  • Matching possible families

We have four strains of a family from Ireland. At least, we want to try to confirm by DNA that these 4 strains may have been once combined, back in the 1700s. I may be able to obtain DNA samples of directly descended males from 3 of the 4 strains (the 4th male line has died out). Is there a means by which I can ask FamilyTreeDNA to specifically compare the samples submitted and report on this?

    Bill,

If all three of the men have kits in the same project, surname or regional, they will automatically be compared to each other.

If there isn't a surname project for that or a similar surname you can always start one.

FTDNA has a sale on Y-DNA37 and Y-DNA67 kits which ends Dec. 31 so this would be a good time to order the kits.

    Good luck!
