  • How to open Family Finder Results?

Hi guys, I just received an email from FTDNA saying my Famiy finder test results were online. I have tried to open it, but
1)I am not sure where the results are? Is it the download results link?

2)If it is, then I am lacking a program that will open it. My Windows laptop recommends Paretologic, but I wondered if there's a free program?

    Thank you

I've downloaded Peazip, but it still says I cannot open the file and that I need some program like File Cure.

You'll find your results under the Family Finder section "Matches". Make sure to watch your ethnic breakdown percentage under the new "Population Finder" aswell.

Thanks for your answer. It seems there has been some sort of mistake here. I was under the impression that the Family Finder test would help me determine whether two relatives were indeed relatives and thus biologically related or not.
I was a little confused when I received the kit that contained 3 vials and instructions that said I should wait 4 hours between all three tests.
Now I realise I may have been given the wrong sort of test. I am not looking to find unknown relatives thru a data bank. I am trying to determine whether two supposed relatives of mine are actually biologically related or not.

The Family Finder test can be used to determine if two specific people are biologically related to each other. However, both people would have to take the FF test.

Once you have FF results for the two people, if they're biologically related (within the last several generations), they will probably show up on each other's cousins list. The more recent the family relationship, the more likely that they'll show up as cousins or closer in the test. When you get out to 4th cousins or beyond, there's a significant chance that the test won't find shared segments that establish a cousin relationship and will not show the two people as related.

My x-chromosome-results file was not compressed. The file was a standard "csv" file. Try dropping the "gzip" extension from the file name.

            This may help.
